Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
March 16, 2012

Bayer CropScience, one of the world’s top innovative crop science companies in the areas of crop protection, non-agricultural pest control, seeds and traits, has announced the release of a podcast on “Sustainability in Agriculture: A Bayer Executive Course,” an invite-only forum taking place on Monday, March 19 through Wednesday, March 21 at The Umstead Hotel & Spa, located at 100 Woodland Pond Drive in Cary, N.C.

In the podcast, Nick Hamon, head of sustainability for Bayer CropScience North America, interviews Dr. Tom Rufty, Bayer CropScience distinguished professor of sustainability at NC State, who explains course goals and initiatives, as well as the increased need for innovation in agricultural sustainability as the world’s population continues to grow.

He discusses the key global drivers for agricultural sustainability, the effects of population growth on water supply and demand, urban development and food supply, and the role of scientific research and development in meeting the global demand for food. Rufty also shares the concerns regarding climate change and agricultural productivity that will be addressed during the event.

The podcast is available for download here.
