Genome editing techniques can make agriculture more sustainable by adapting traits to make crops more resistant to pests and diseases, to heatwaves and drought while, at the same time, reducing their need for chemical input and consumption of energy and resources (e.g. water) needed for the production. Here is a case study on wheat crops.
