Manure technology for spreading in crop trials

As various types of manure with their various properties (cattle manure, pig manure, biogas manure) are becoming increasingly important as nitrogen fertilizers, it is logical to want to use manure in crop trials. To be able to provide comprehensive answers to many questions relating to best practices in agriculture, crop trials are essential.

To be able to provide comprehensive answers to many questions relating to best practices in agriculture, crop trials are essential.
After roughly drafting the requirements for a machine of this type, WINTERSTEIGER searched for partners capable of developing the technology in the scope of a joint project. After this, the customers and companies involved specified the parameters.
Technical implementation.
The manure spreading unit was implemented using the following parameters:
- We designed 3 point and pull type versions, both of which are lightweight
- Pull-type track width 1.50 m
- Spreading width 1.25 m, other spreading widths are possible within a certain spreading volume
- Transportable: length 7 m, max. weight 3,500 kg incl. manure tank and tractor
- Optional surface spreading or in combination with hoe opener
- Tank volume of 1000 l; plastic tank type
- The spreading volume is defined in advance in line with the plot plan using the manure calculator and then selected in the alley by adding or subtracting a percentage of the volume; there is no need to stop to change the spreading volume. You can keep to the selected travel speed
- The pump speed is modified to change the spreading volume; the pump is hydraulically driven with its own oil circuit. This unit is controlled by an electronic controller based on standardized serial technology and also by the manure calculator by means of set/actual value adjustment. The variable displacement pump is driven by the PTO at 540 rpm
- Tank filling is effected by self-priming and switches off automatically in line with preset filling level. After filling, switchover from filling to stirring mode is manual
- Spreading mode is enabled by a signal from the manure calculator; this causes hydraulic switching of a slide valve to feed the manure to the rotary distributor. The manure is then distributed to the individual spreading hoses and discharged onto the ground
- Large pipe diameters such as those used in large area manure spreading prevent clogging of the slide valve, hoses and fittings
- A manure pump that ensures a continuous feed and avoids clogging due to the low spreading volume and despite the different characteristics of the various types of manure
- A distribution system that ensures even distribution within the defined working width
