USDA/NIFA awards $7.1M to support agricultural microbiome research

USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture has awarded $7.1 million to fund nine research projects that focus on microbiome research, which is critical for improving agricultural productivity, agricultural ecosystems, and the safety of the food supply support animal reproduction. Research supported by this Agriculture Food and Research Initiative competitive grants program area priority will help fill major knowledge gaps in characterizing agricultural microbiomes and microbiome functions across agricultural production systems, and natural resources through crosscutting projects.
