FMC receives registration for Fidresa®fungicide in Argentina

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
April 24, 2025

FMC Corporation announced today that it has received regulatory approval for Fidresa® fungicide in Argentina, marking a strategic expansion in the global commercialization of fluindapyr. This registration equips Argentinian cereal growers with a powerful new solution against persistent disease threats, including tan spot, leaf scald, leaf spots and rusts.

"Cereal producers are facing mounting disease pressure that can significantly compromise crop quality and yield potential,” said Juan Ortiz, vice president of FMC Latin America, excluding Brazil. “Fidresa® fungicide delivers robust disease protection, enabling growers to maintain healthier, more productive and more marketable cereal crops in increasingly challenging growing conditions.”

Wheat remains a cornerstone of Argentina's agricultural economy, with the country ranking among the world's leading cereal producers. Currently, approximately 6.3 million planted hectares are dedicated to wheat cultivation and 1.6 million planted hectares to barley production. The introduction of Fidresa® fungicide provides Argentine growers with a powerful defense tool to help safeguard those hectares.

"This registration represents an important advancement for Argentinian agriculture," said Henrik Ohlsen, global fungicide portfolio manager. "Fidresa® fungicide delivers exceptional control against the most challenging cereal diseases affecting production in the region and will give growers the freedom to choose a high-performance tool compatible with the best-in-class disease management."

Fidresa® fungicide demonstrates broad-spectrum activity against fungal diseases that threaten crop yield and quality. It will be particularly valuable as climate-related challenges and disease pressures intensify across global agricultural systems. Fidresa® fungicide will be available to Argentine cereal growers in June.

Fluindapyr, the active ingredient in Fidresa® fungicide, belongs to the succinate dehydrogenase inhibitor (SDHI) class of chemistry. Fluindapyr provides extended residual control and effectively manages pathogens that have developed resistance to other fungicide classes, making it an essential component in a comprehensive resistance management strategy.
