• Syngenta takes full ownership of former joint venture
• Platform for licensing of Syngenta germplasm and traits
• Enhanced offer for independent seed companies
Syngenta and DuPont today announced that Syngenta has assumed full ownership of GreenLeaf Genetics, LLC, effective November 8, 2010. The transaction dissolves a joint venture between Syngenta Seeds, Inc. and DuPont business Pioneer Hi-Bred. It enables Syngenta and Pioneer to pursue independent licensing strategies for their respective proprietary corn and soybean genetics and biotechnology traits.
Davor Pisk, Chief Operating Officer, Syngenta Seeds said: “With full control of GreenLeaf Genetics, we will be able to move more quickly in broadening access to our rapidly expanding portfolio of innovative traits and germplasm. This new ownership structure underscores Syngenta’s commitment to helping independent seed companies provide a wide range of choices to growers.”

GreenLeaf Genetics was originally launched by Syngenta in 2004 and became a joint venture with Pioneer in April 2006. It will now operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Syngenta Seeds, Inc. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Syngenta et DuPont ont annoncé aujourd’hui la prise de contrôle intégrale de GreenLeaf Genetics, LLC, par Syngenta. Cette transaction, qui a pris effet le 8 novembre 2010, entraîne la dissolution d’un accord de coentreprise entre Syngenta Seeds, Inc. et Pioneer Hi-Bred, entreprise du groupe DuPont. Cette opération va permettre à Syngenta et à Pioneer de mettre en oeuvre des stratégies indépendantes de vente sous licence de leurs caractères biotechnologiques et de leurs variétés de maïs et de soja issus de leurs recherches respectives.

GreenLeaf Genetics a été créée initialement par Syngenta, en 2004, et est devenue une coentreprise à la suite d’un accord conclu avec Pioneer en avril 2006. La société opérera à présent en tant que filiale à part entière de Syngenta Seeds, Inc. Les termes de la transaction n’ont pas été dévoilés.

Die Transaktion löst das Joint Venture zwischen Syngenta Seeds Inc. und dem DuPont Geschäftsbereich Pioneer Hi-Bred auf. Sie ermöglicht Syngenta und Pioneer unabhängige Lizenzstrategien für ihre jeweils selbstentwickelten Mais- und Soja-Gene sowie biotechnologischen Traits zu verfolgen.

GreenLeaf Genetics wurde im Jahr 2004 von Syngenta gegründet und im April 2006 in ein Joint Venture mit Pioneer überführt; es ist nun eine hundertprozentige Tochter von Syngenta Seeds, Inc. Weitere Einzelheiten der Transaktion wurden nicht bekannt gegeben.
