Equinom’s sesame shows great results in both semi-arid and tropical Australian climates, proving once again that growing sesame Down Under holds enormous economic potential
Equinom’s sesame team headed by Oron Gar returns from harvest in Australia with outstanding results from two of Equinom’s main growing locations.
In South Queensland/North New South Wales, areas with semi-arid climate conditions, harvest of Equinom’s shatter resistant sesame varieties in test fields using dryland practices exhibited higher than expected yields and great quality seeds, indicating once again that sesame is an ideal crop for this region as it adopts well to extreme climate conditions and outperforms other summer crops.

In Far North Queensland, an area with tropical climate conditions, sesame can grow all year round. Our test field included soils ranging from sandy soils to heavy clay, and we were pleased to see great results regardless of soil type.
These May harvest results are another milestone for Equinom’s sesame in Australia and provide further evidence to the enormous economic potential for sesame in the continent. As expected, we are seeing a surge farmers’ interest to grow sesame in the seasons to come; in Far North Queensland as early as next month and in South Queensland/North New South Wales in November 2018.
A big thank you to our local Australian partners for believing in our product and sharing the journey with us!
Kudos to Oron, Avi, Itay, Gonen and the entire team.
