Xemium is a potent fungicide active ingredient with class leading efficacy against Septoria, yellow and brown rusts in wheat. It is rated top in the HGCA performance charts for control of Septoria and yellow rust over the past four seasons.
In barley Xemium is also extremely effective at providing control of net blotch, Rhynchosporium and ramularia.
AgCelence Effects and Benefits
Xemium also has effects beyond control of disease. We refer to these effects as AgCelence and the benefits that these effects bring as AgCelence benefits. For the first time these effects have been quantified by research done by ADAS over the past few seasons. A summary of these effects and their statistical significance according to the ADAS study is given below.

Summary
Xemium treated plants exhibited beneficial effects above and beyond disease control. These direct effects on the host plants resulted in more than a 10% yield increase which was not attributable to the control of disease.
In addition, ADAS has also quantified for the first time the effects of Xemium on the life cycle of Septoria. This has shown Xemium influences the initial quantity of disease inoculum, reducing early disease levels in the following crop and potentially in neighbouring crops. Research has also found that there was a yield boost due to fewer lesions in the growing crop.
Due to the effects Xemium has on the latent period of the disease, (the time it takes to complete its life cycle), Xemium containing fungicides have the potential to slow the development of fungicide resistance due to fewer pathogen cycles within a crop year. Importantly the rate of sporulation is reduced resulting in a yield benefit due to reduced disease in the upper canopy as well as reducing the size of the spores which may penalise the fitness of the disease.
Xemium is the brand name for the active ingredient fluxapyroxad. Use plant protection products safely. Always read the label and product information before use.
