Rijk Zwaan puts spotlight on head cabbage storage
De Lier, The Netherlands
February 27, 2014
On 26 February 2014, Rijk Zwaan organized the annual Head Cabbage Storage Show in its breeding station for head cabbage in Germany. This breeding station is located in Marne, which is one of the traditional cultivation areas for head cabbage in Northern Germany.
As every year, the show was organized in close cooperation with Gemüsebauberatungsring Dithmarschen (official consultancy circle). It provided visitors with a clear overview of the complete Rijk Zwaan Head Cabbage assortment, and included several storage trials of Rijk Zwaan and the consultancy circle. New promising varieties as well as reliable standard varieties were tested under difficult conditions. The event also included an exhibition related to cabbage cultivation.
The 250 visitors were mainly coming from the region, but also from different parts of Germany and the Netherlands. They were not only updated about cabbage varieties and their suitability for storage, but also took the opportunity to exchange their ideas and experiences.
