DuPont Pioneer to host workshops in response to increased interest in growing corn
Growers will have the opportunity to learn the basics of planting corn and how to properly maintain, set and use their corn planters at upcoming clinics. Experts from DuPont Pioneer and various implement manufacturers including John Deere, Case IH and Great Plains will be leading growers throughout the session.
The corn planter clinics will be held March 12 in Portage LaPrairie, MB; March 13 in Regina, SK and March 14 in Lethbridge, AB. To attend one of three corn planter clinics throughout Western Canada please contact your local Pioneer sales representative. Pioneer Hi-Bred is pleased to announce that Bill Lemkuhl will be speaking at these events. Lemkuhl is an independent crop consultant and farmer from Minster, Ohio. He owns and operates Precision Agri Services Inc., an independent agricultural and environmental consulting firm.
"Growers are becoming increasingly interested in growing corn here in Western Canada," says Wilt Billing, DuPont Pioneer area agronomist. "They want to learn the ‘ins and outs' of corn production from experts in the field; Pioneer thought it would be great to bring in other experts like implement manufacturers to give growers a real hands-on experience."
Lemkuhl's knowledge of planters has taken him through more than 17 states as well as Eastern Canada. His presentations focus on helping farmers with not only the mechanical aspects of the planter, but also the technology and agronomic side to get the most out of their equipment.
Other topics at the session will include, corn production using a "Systems Approach", a planter overview, new developments from implement partners along with display units and information booths.
