New DuPont™ LeadOff™ Herbicide Delivers Long-Lasting Weed Control, Crop Rotation Flexibility
WILMINGTON, Del., Oct. 6, 2011 ― Southern and Delta area growers now have a new weed-control tool that provides exceptional planting flexibility. DuPont™ LeadOff™ herbicide has been granted federal registration approval by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for preplant use in corn, soybeans and cotton.
“In today’s dynamic agriculture market, growers need planting flexibility to respond to changing commodity prices or unpredictable weather conditions,” said John Chrosniak, regional director, North America – DuPont Crop Protection.
LeadOff™ herbicide delivers early-season burndown and improved planting flexibility for southern and Delta growers. Shown in early February 2011, the plot on the left was treated with LeadOff™ + glyphosate + 2,4-D in mid-November 2010.
“LeadOff™ gives growers the ability to control weeds early, react to changing weather conditions and take advantage of last-minute market opportunities as they make their final planting decisions.”
With contact plus residual weed-control capabilities, LeadOff™ offers growers control of hard-to-manage weeds from early preplant through preemergence application timing. The result is more consistent control of many difficult grass and broadleaf weeds, including marestail, annual bluegrass, henbit and other winter annuals.
Highly effective, even under cool, wet conditions, LeadOff™ may be used 30 days prior to planting in fields that will be planted to soybeans or cotton. It also can be used as a preplant through preemergence application in corn.
Along with outstanding weed control and flexibility, growers can benefit from financing and other purchase incentives through the TruChoice® Opportunity Program when they choose LeadOff™.
Available for growers in the southern and Delta regions, LeadOff™ is registered for use in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and the bootheel region of southeast Missouri.
DuPont™ LeadOff™ herbicide is not registered for sale or use in all states. No offer for sale or use of this product is permitted prior to issuance of the required EPA and state registrations.
