Seed Health Molecular Intern

Location: Woodland, California, USA

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role are to: 

  • Perform experiments to improve the efficiency of the ELISA seed health assay method;
  • Perform experiments to identify optimal reagent concentrations, incubation times, and other key method parameters;
  • Develop and improve ELISA control quality control processes, including positive process controls;
  • Design experiments to help set lot-specific statistical limits for controls;
  • Maintain detailed documentation for the testing procedures, results, and algorithm updates and provide detailed reports of findings and recommendations;
  • Work both independently and within a cross-regional team for collaborative initiatives;
  • Perform work that complies with safety and health, quality management systems and operational policies, and seed health testing regulations.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • Working towards Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Plant Pathology, Molecular Biology;
  • Strong knowledge of basic laboratory techniques;
  • Experience with molecular biology lab techniques;
  • Experience work in high-throughput lab environment;
  • Detail oriented;
  • Fluent in English with the ability to read, write, and speak effectively;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enrolled in Master's degree program;
  • Knowledge of Seed Health or plant pathogen testing methods;
  • Experience using automation in sample testing;
  • Experience with data visualization applications and/or statistical analysis techniques.
