The UC Davis Plant Breeding Academy (PBA) is a premium professional certificate program offered in the USA, Europe and Africa. To date, 281 breeders from over 60 countries have attended the UC Davis PBA, making it the most significant program of its kind.
Last month a survey of UC Davis PBA graduates shows that the program has a significant impact on both the employer and the graduate-employee. Graduates from the private industry that completed the program in USA, Europe and Asia were surveyed with three statements measuring the impact of PBA on: 1) the contribution the graduates make to their organizations and 2) recognition they have received for their contributions. Almost 60 graduates responded to the survey and indicated a high-level of satisfaction with the impact that the program had on their professional development.
Ninety-three percent (93%) of respondents agree or strongly agree that they have become more productive employees in their respective organizations; 82% of respondents agree or strongly agree that the complexity of their tasks and duties have increased as a result of the PBA training; 79% of the respondents agree or strongly agree that the PBA contributed to positive career changes in terms of promotion and salary.
More than 75% of UC Davis Plant Breeding Academy participants from private industry come from organizations that have repeatedly sent students to the program, which is the ultimate measure of employer satisfaction.
Applications are now being accepted for the 7th class of the Plant Breeding Academy in the USA beginning in September of 2018.
