USA
November 29, 2017
Dear Members,
Please join the Teaching and Training committee and Dr. Sabry Elias on December 6th at 11am central for our webinar on Variability in Seed Testing Results: Causes and Ways to Measure and Manage Them. Lack of uniformity in test results among laboratories causes problems to the seed industry, such as stop-sales or failure to meet company contracts. This webinar will discuss factors contributing to variability in seed testing results within and among laboratories, with suggestions on how to reduce such factors. Random sampling variation, systemic variation, non-uniform seed lots, and improper sampling techniques will be discussed. The use of various methods in testing the same species, equipment failure, change in the physiological quality of seeds over time, and subjectivity in interpreting results among analysts/ laboratories will be covered as well.
