Staphyt expands its seed experimental network and establishes in Russia in response to customer requests. The new seed station will be based in Grishin, close to Volgograd (Kekvidze District) and will be operational from next spring. The climate is continental, with cold and dry winters (Average of 6-7 C°), and hot summers (Average of 23° C). The annual rainfalls averages 370-400mm. In the heart of a rich agricultural basin, the crops are : sunflowers, cereals, (Wheat, triticale, barley, rice), sorghum, canary-seed, mustard, vegetables crops, melons… This station will be under the management of Artur KAMILANOV, an experienced agronomist in variety trials.

In Hungary, Staphyt is already based in Szolnok and opens a second station in the southwest, in Lengyeltóti. From spring 2018, seeds services and demonstration trials will be possible.
The new site of Lengyeltóti is located140km from the Austrian border and 160km from Budapest. The proximity of the Balaton lake creates a particular continental climate, less dry in the summer compared to Szolnok and the rainfall is about 600-800mm per year. During the winter, the coldest temperatures can reach -10 to -15°C.
This region is rich in orchards and is known for its nut production. The maize production zone of Kaposvár is located only 40km from the station.
Other crops are available : Rape, sunflower, winter wheat, winter barley, vine, stone fruits, field vegetables, melons…
Miklós VILLÁNYI, the regional leader in Hungary and a team of 8 agronomists are in charge of the trial programs in Hungary.
