Responding to the demand of the plant breeding community, the UC Davis Plant Breeding Academy is offering the second open enrollment Advanced Module course. The class will take place in Davis, CA, November 7-9, 2017. The module is designed to review the breeding strategies in context of the modern tools and build the necessary background towards understanding and practical application of BLUPs, genomic selection, with lectures and discussion on the following topics:
- Multivariate selection
- Linear and mixed models
- BLUPs, Genomic selection
- Advanced experimental designs and analysis
- Dealing with testing environments
The participants will be required to bring laptops for a number of exercises using “R”.
UC Davis instructors Allen Van Deynze and Rale Gjuric will be joined by Bruce Walsh, University of Arizona, to deliver this module. Daniel Runcie, UC Davis, will contribute a guest lecture “A Bayesian model for quantitative genetic studies of high-dimensional traits”.
The full registration fee $1,150. Early bird rate of $950 is available for registrations before September 30, 2017.
