UK-India Newton-Bhabha Fund joint call on pulses and oilseeds - networking meeting
United Kingdom
June 2, 2017
Call opens: July 2017
Application deadline: Autumn 2017
BBSRC and India’s Department of Biotechnology (DBT) will shortly open a UK-India Newton-Bhabha Fund joint call for applications to a new initiative. The purpose of the initiative is to address biological constraints on the production in India of pulses and oilseeds grown for food or animal feed. The aim of the call is to use genomic approaches to accelerate varietal improvement by understanding and exploiting traits to enhance yield potential, increase tolerance to climatic stresses or poor-quality soils, or counter pests or diseases.
Networking meeting
To launch the call, BBSRC is holding a UK networking meeting in central London (venue to be confirmed) on 30 June, starting at 11:00. The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss the scope of the call and the type of applications to be sought. This event will also assist the funders with an early understanding of possible challenges and barriers to collaborative research.
