Royal Van Zanten appoints new director of Van Zanten Breeding BV

With effect from 1 April 2017 Royal Van Zanten plans to appoint Sjoukje Heimovaara as Managing Director of Van Zanten Breeding B.V. She will succeed Henk Jacobs, who with effect from the same date has accepted a new position at Dekker Chrysanten.

After obtaining her degree in plant breeding at Wageningen University, Sjoukje Heimovaara worked as head of TNO’s Applied Plant Sciences Department.

In 2003 she joined Royal Van Zanten as R&D Director. In this role she was involved in managing Royal Van Zanten’s various business units and under her leadership a continual impulse was given to the company’s innovative research operations. She has also been active in several auxiliary functions relating to strategy and policy.

Arie Veldhuyzen van Zanten, CEO of Royal Van Zanten, welcomes Heimovaara’s proposed appointment: “In Sjoukje we will have a highly experienced colleague in this position, enabling the company to build further on the strategy, co-designed by her, which is characterised by the provision of value added and innovative strength”.
