European Seed Association attends the Food 2030 Conference with the stand "Seeds for food and nutrition security"
Brussels, Belgium
October 17, 2016
The European Commission’ DG RTD and DG AGRI organised a conference entitled “FOOD 2030” on 12-13 October in Brussels, where about 500 participants met to discuss research and innovation for tomorrow's nutrition and food systems. In parallel to the conference the EC hold a “Food Village” to present EU-funded projects and other initiatives in the areas of nutrition for sustainable and healthy diets, smart and environmentally sustainable food systems, and circularity.
The European Seed Association was there too, with the stand "Seeds for food and nutrition security" to show the contributions of the sector to more sustainable and nutritious food systems, and to specifically demonstrate what companies already do to meet societal and environmental challenges.
We also had the pleasure to have EU Commissioner Moedas visiting our stand, and we hope that our message was heard: #PlantBreeding also contributes to food and nutrition security. The next step on the agenda was to celebrate the World Food Day ( #WFD2016) on 16 October. This year's slogan is very pertinent to our sector too: Climate is changing, Food and Agriculture must too.
