Matthias Eberius joins Zasso GmbH as Chief Technology Officer

Germany
September 28, 2016

The zasso group – world leaders in digital weed control – is pleased to announce that Matthias Eberius will join their team from October 2016. Matthias has been involved in agro-innovation for more than 20 years and will now support the zasso GmbH as CTO.

Matthias has long-term experience in ecotoxicology as well as the development of standardized environmental tests (ISO, OECD,) and he has always focused strongly on integrating new technologies into applications.

Matthias Eberius, CTO zasso GmbH: “I am delighted to work with the zasso team on developing solutions for integrated weed management in agricultural, forest and urban applications. Being part of a global company helps me to better understand worldwide local needs in the area of sustainable weed control and to design advanced weeding solutions for digital farming technologies as part of a great team.”

Dirk Vandenhirtz, CEO zasso GmbH: “Matthias will be of great benefit to the company, not only by aiding the engineering team with his outstanding knowledge of agro-technologies and ecotoxicology, but also as a great support for the board of the zasso group.”

The zasso GmbH is located in Aachen, Germany, in the economic, agricultural and political heartland of Europe and close to the elite science university RWTH Aachen.

Connecting German university know-how and high-tech industry expertise in electrophysics, the environment and agriculture with Swiss economic foresight and Brazilian long-term development competence, zasso creates the best basis for real innovation.

Why are innovative weeding techniques so important today?

  • Weeds are responsible for at least 10 % of all yield losses.
  • Weeds can strongly compromise public and traffic areas.
  • Weeds are strong competitors of crop and tree seedlings with regards to light, nutrients and water.
  • Chemical weeding has reached its limits, with almost no innovative active ingredients on the horizon for years to come.

Sustainable and potent new modes of action, like zasso’s high energy electrons, are required now, to manage the control of invasive plants and the growing resistance of weeds to most commonly used herbicides.

The zasso group is working with strong partners in various fields of application, looking into the economic impact of efficient weeding worldwide. The aim is to be present on all major global markets in the near future – and making weeding a clean technology.

The new team is backed up by a strong shareholder group based in Zug/Switzerland. The overall vision of the zasso group is to create a new generation of crop protection technology.
