Syngenta Canada Inc. is pleased to announce the addition of SY4187 to its expanding canola seed portfolio.

SY4187 is a new Genuity® Roundup Ready® hybrid canola variety that brings market-leading genetics to growers in the form of high yield potential, strong clubroot resistance and multi-genic blackleg resistance. SY4187 is best suited for the mid- to long-season maturity zones of Western Canada.

The release of SY4187 comes at a time when growers are experiencing a steady increase of clubroot-infected acres throughout northern and central Alberta, as well as new evidence of the disease moving towards Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

“SY4187 further strengthens the Syngenta canola seed portfolio and gives growers more opportunity to capitalize on high yields in geographies where clubroot is a growing concern,” says Shaun Vey, Product Lead, Canola and Cereal Seed, with Syngenta Canada. “SY4187 is an ideal hybrid for growers that want to be proactive and protect their canola from clubroot, but don’t want to sacrifice anything in terms blackleg control or top-end yield potential.”

Vey points out that SY4187 consistently ranked among the top yielding hybrids in the 2015 Canola Performance Trials, Public Co-op Trials and Syngenta field trials.

SY4187 also has excellent standability, which makes the variety easy to swath and delivers time savings at harvest.

SY4187 will be available for sale in the fall of 2016 for spring 2017 seeding. To learn more about SY4187 and the Syngenta canola seed portfolio, please contact your local Syngenta Representative,or contact our Customer Interaction Centre at 1-87-SYNGENTA (1-877-964-3682).
