GRDC Chairman Richard Clark today announced the extension of Managing Director John Harvey’s contract to 30 June 2016.
His appointment was due to finish in February 2016.
“The Board appreciates John agreeing to extend his term which will enable him to complete the important program of organisational reform currently underway,” Mr Clark said.
“The Board is very conscious of the need to maintain the Corporation’s momentum while also managing renewal and change. As we look ahead, it is clear that the GRDC will adopt a more international focus as the research and development landscape continues to evolve.
“Whilst it will remain critical to maintain and enhance our strong existing relationships, new opportunities and new partnerships are emerging. This will require a sharp commercial approach in a global context.”
Mr Harvey said he felt enormously privileged to have been a part of the GRDC over the past 18 years.
“GRDC has been a huge part of my life and I am very proud of the Corporation’s many achievements and the very positive contribution it makes to the success of the Australian grains industry,” Mr Harvey said.
“I am immensely optimistic about the exciting future of the GRDC. There is still so much more that the GRDC can do for Australian grain growers and the Australian community more generally.”
The Board will now embark on an international search for a successor who will be responsible for the development and implementation of the five year strategic Research and Development Investment Plan, which is due to commence on 1 July 2017.
