400 farmers attend Nunhems’ Farmers Field Day in Gurgaon, India

Nunhems Bayer CropScience’s vegetable seed business, brought together farmers, dealers, government officials from horticulture departments, cultivators of protected crops, and nursery growers from Northern and Eastern India at its Demonstration Farm in Bilaspur, Gurgaon.

Four hundred participants from eight different states attended the two-day event on April 27 and 29 to learn about Nunhems’ new hybrid seed varieties and exchange views and knowledge on Indian horticulture.

A team of Nunhems’ specialists provided information on current and upcoming varieties to business partners from Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkand, Bihar, and West Bengal.

Nunhems showcased a wide variety of its crops at the event, focusing on hot peppers, tomatoes, gourds, onions, eggplants, melons, watermelons, okra, cucumber, sweet pepper, and carrots.

Madhuraja and Madhurima, the innovative hybrid melons that were recently launched in the Indian market, were also showcased at the event, as well as promising upcoming varieties in eggplant, tomatoes, and watermelons. With a wide range of new varieties for the North and East Indian markets, Nunhems’ portfolio is expanding with more and more innovative products. Badshah, a new Nunhems tomato variety, promises earliness, uniform fruits until last picking, and good transportability. Nun 0537, a green variegated eggplant hybrid variety, offers higher disease resistance and good cluster bearing. The new watermelon hybrid 8674 is a sugar baby type with very small seeds and good transportability.
