ASTA is excited to announce the CSS 2014 & Seed Expo and 54th Vegetable and Flower Seed Conference both saw the highest number of attendees and exhibitors on record. The conferences also saw increases in involvement from graduate students presenting thesis statements in Chicago and undergraduate students in Tampa representing the University of Florida's Challenge 2050 program.
CSS 2014 & Seed Expo hosted a record 3002 attendees, up 350 from 2013.
Educational sessions representing the most relevant and cutting-edge issues were offered across the week, allowing more flexibility for registrants to find times and topics suitable to their interests. Past ASTA president Bill Whitacre, President and CEO of J.R. Simplot Company, returned to share his seed and food industry experiences during the Opening General Session.
ASTA's fastest growing event, the 54th Vegetable and Flower Seed Conference, continued its upward trend with 844 registrants, a seven percent increase from 2013. Participants from over 30 countries attended the General Session with Dr. David Clark, University of Florida's Plant Innovation Program, delivering the keynote address on the use of Consumer Assisted Selection to produce new varieties.
