Dates and locations have been announced for the 2015 Western Australian Regional Crop Updates, which can help equip grain growers with the latest research results applicable to their area.
Supported by the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) and the Department of Agriculture and Food, Western Australia (DAFWA), 12 updates will be held throughout the WA grainbelt in March.
Growers in the south-eastern grainbelt are encouraged to diarise the following dates:
- North Mallee Farm Improvement Group – March 5 – Salmon Gums Golf Club
- Ravensthorpe Agricultural Initiative Network (RAIN) – March 17 – Ravensthorpe Recreation Centre
Growers in the southern grainbelt are encouraged to diarise the following dates:
- West Arthur Trials Group – March 4 – Darkan Sports Complex
- Facey Group – March 5 – Wickepin
- Southern DIRT – March 11 – Kojonup Sports Club
- Corrigin Farm Improvement Group – March 12 – Corrigin
- Stirlings to Coast Farmers – March 19 – Greenrange Country Club, Manypeaks
Growers in the northern grainbelt are encouraged to diarise the following dates:
- Liebe Group – March 4 – Dalwallinu Recreation Centre
- West Midlands Group – March 10 – Badgingarra Recreation Centre
- North East Farming Futures – March 12 – Mullewa Sports Club
Growers in the central and eastern grainbelt are encouraged to diarise the following dates:
- Western Australian No-Tillage Farmers Association (WANTFA) – March 3 – Cunderdin Sports Club
- Corrigin Farm Improvement Group – March 12 - Corrigin
- Far Eastern Ag Research Group – March 4 – Moorine Rock Tennis Club
GRDC western regional panel chairman Peter Roberts encouraged growers to attend the events to access relevant and timely information to help them boost farm productivity and profitability.
“The independent program committees for the south-eastern grainbelt updates has been guided by issues identified by GRDC’s Regional Cropping Solutions Networks and papers to be presented will focus on local grower priorities,” he said.
