Western Australia - Expert fusarium crown rot advice available online

Western Australia
December 16, 2014

Western Australian growers can obtain information and direct specialist feedback about fusarium crown rot and other topical agronomic issues by visiting the recently launched web platform eXtensionAUS.

Crown rot was more damaging than usual in WA wheat and barley crops this year due to factors including more intensive cereal production and favourable seasonal conditions.

By visiting www.extensionaus.com.au/crown-rot-cereals-western, growers can access regionally-specific information to help them manage the disease and post questions that will be answered by experts.

The national eXtensionAUS web platform can also be used by growers to obtain information and request answers to other issues relating to crop diseases and nutrition.

eXtensionAUS is a national, research-based learning network that provides an online link to credible information for the grains sector.

The Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) is taking a lead role in facilitating this pilot project with the Department of Environment and Primary Industries Victoria (DEPI Vic) and the NSW Department of Primary Industries (NSWDPI).

Additional crown rot information can be found at www.agric.wa.gov.au/n/2131 and www.grdc.com.au/ManagingCrownRotWA
