Monsanto honored for efforts in developing agriculture in Vietnam

Monsanto Vietnam has been named as one of the “Exemplary Companies in developing Vietnam’s Agriculture and Rural Economy” by the Rural Economy Newspaper. The award aims to recognize companies and individuals for their efforts and contributions in helping support the development of Vietnam’s agriculture and rural economy. Monsanto Vietnam was nominated and selected as a result of its longstanding commitment and action to improve Vietnam’s commodity sector and the lives of local farmers.

“We are pleased this honor recognizes our commitment to the development of agriculture in Vietnam, but we know there is much more work to be done,” said Nguyen Dinh Manh Chien, Monsanto Vietnam Country Lead. “We look forward to continuing to work with farmers, consumers, local industry, government agencies and civil society organizations to develop creative solutions to support agriculture in Vietnam and help meet the needs of our growing world.”

Monsanto has partnered with farmers in Vietnam for more than a decade. Today, the company sells corn and vegetables hybrid seeds in the country to help meet the needs of local farmers, the local industry and consumers. Since 2008, the company has invested more than $ 1 million in breeding research to develop seeds best suited to local conditions.

Monsanto Vietnam also is committed to supporting the communities where its employees live and work through various partnerships and philanthropic efforts.
