An intensive one-day workshop held at the Indiana Crop Improvement Association facilities near Stockwell, Indiana on February 25th drew a crowd of more than 50 AgVenture Regional Seed Company participants from across the country. The meeting gathered Regional Seed Company Owners, marketing managers and AgVenture Yield Specialists from ten states. Participants honed their skills and refined their understanding of the science involved in growing profitable crops.

AgVenture Business Development Manager, Chuck Schneider said, “This was an excellent program with everyone very engaged in our educational initiatives. We were very pleased with not only the topics presented, but with the deep level of meaningful discussion each of our participants brought to the table. They are focused and committed to bringing their customers the best information possible.”

Schneider explained that this specific type of Winter Profit Plot meeting was the first in a series of such meetings to come, providing RSCs and their teams with access to professionals, technology information and practical applications for agronomic information and practices. He said, “AVI is highly focused on providing outstanding technical support to our AgVenture Yield Specialists (AYS). These highly-focused seed professionals have the attention of their customers. We are committed to offering tools and training that respects that valuable relationship.”

The meeting featured presentations by members of Indiana Crop Improvement Association who provided an overview of their facilities and range of services, and talked specifically about seed quality testing aspects. AgVenture personnel supported the science of seed quality testing as it pertains directly to AgVenture’s high seed quality standards. ICIA presenters included ICIA CEO Alan Galbreth, COO, Joe Deford, Genetics Program Director, Emily Dierking, and Marketing Director, Liz Pestow. The ICIA also provide a tour of their facilities.

Dr. Bruce Erickson, Purdue University Agronomy Education Distance and Outreach Director presented an interactive session on crop growth and development fundamentals. Participants were posed with difficult simulated field scenarios and challenged to assess and advise based on the science and information provided
