Geared toward producers and agriculture industry professionals, Cotton Focus is packed with useful information for the upcoming cropping season, in a succinct, half-day format. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and concludes with a complimentary lunch at noon. There is no cost to attend.

Cotton Focus will offer presentations on an array of topics including variety performance, weed and pest control, irrigation and much more. Program speakers include:

  • Matthew Wiggins, Ph.D. candidate, UT Plant Sciences
  • Jim Brumley, executive director, Southeastern Boll Weevil Eradication Foundation

“We share our research findings in a variety of ways,” says Dr. Scott Stewart, Integrated Pest Management coordinator for UT Extension, “but being able to hear, learn and interact with researchers and fellow producers in person is a unique opportunity to gain information.”

A complete program agenda can be viewed at http://www.utcrops.com/upcomingevents.html, or call 731-425-4718 for more details.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be available for Pesticide Applicators and Certified Crop Advisors.

Cotton Focus will be immediately followed by the Tennessee Boll Weevil Eradication Committee annual meeting.

The West Tennessee AgResearch Center is located at 605 Airways Boulevard in Jackson, Tennessee.

UT Extension operates in each of Tennessee’s 95 counties as the off-campus division of the UT Institute of Agriculture. An educational outreach organization, funded by federal, state and local governments, UT Extension, in cooperation with Tennessee State University, brings research-based information about agriculture, family and consumer sciences, and resource development to the people of Tennessee where they live and work.
