U.S. Society of Commercial Seed Technologists announces five workshops on genetic seed testing

SCST announces five workshops on genetic seed testing to be held at the Iowa State University Seed Science Center, February 1-5, 2010. The SUPERWORKSHOP consists of five one day workshops dedicated to each of the genetic seed testing areas: herbicide bioassay, immunoassay/ELISA, molecular genetics and plant breeding, electrophoresis, and PCR. The workshops are targeted towards candidates preparing to take the SCST Registered or Certified Genetic Technologist exams, individuals looking for a refresher course on the basics, and those that may just be beginning in this field. Workshops will include lecture, hands-on activities, and materials to take home. Time will also be spent discussing current genetic testing issues, new technology, and sources of information, products, and additional training resources.
The workshops will be held at the ISU Seed Science Center in Ames, Iowa on February 1-5, 2010. The fee is $100 for the first workshop and $50 for each additional workshop (includes breaks and lunch each day). Please note that registration is limited to three participants from each company until January 4, 2010.
