North Dakota Crop Improvement and Seed Association district meetings set for December 4-9

If you are interested in learning more about the North Dakota Crop Improvement and Seed Association (NDCISA), new varieties or producing seed, or have questions about seed laws, plan to attend one of the NDCISA district meetings Dec. 4-9.

"Attending a district meeting is a great opportunity to visit with other farmers, seed growers and people from North Dakota State University involved in agriculture," says John Schatz, NDCISA president. "If you want to have a say in policies that involve seed production in North Dakota, come out to one of the meetings,"

The district, date, location and time of the meetings are:

  • Southwest, Dec. 4, Ramada Grand Dakota Lodge, Dickinson, 1 p.m.
  • Northwest, Dec. 5, North Central Research Extension Center, Minot, 9 a.m.
  • Northeast, Dec. 6, Community Center, Lakota, 9 a.m.
  • Southeast, Dec. 9, Days Inn, Casselton, 9 a.m.

Topics during the business meetings include:

  • Financial report
  • County membership and checkoff update
  • Dakota select seed update
  • District resolutions
  • District elections

In addition to a business meeting, program topics to be covered during the meetings include:

  • Research fee update and impact -- Dale Zetocha, NDSU Research Foundation executive director
  • State Seed Department update -- Steve Sebesta, State Seed Department deputy seed commissioner
  • Small-grain variety update -- Roger Ashley, Shana Pederson, Leslie Lubenow and
  • Joel Ransom, NDSU Extension specialists/agronomists
  • Foundation Seedstocks update -- Joyana Baumann, NDSU Foundation Seedstocks research specialist

The meetings are free and open to the public. Door prizes, including free field inspections for 40 acres, will be given away at each of the district meetings.
