South Dakota State University Extension's seed treatment and foliar fungicide field trial

Brookings, South Dakota, USA
May 3, 2013

During the 2012 growing season, South Dakota State University Extension staff researched the effectiveness of fungicide seed treatments, cultural controls and foliar fungicides to manage plant diseases. The results are now available for growers to review at iGrow.

The publication "2012 Field Plot Summaries: Plant Diseases & Fungicide Trials" includes the statistical data of this research report which has been analyzed using the ARM software package by Gylling Data Management, Inc. The data in the report are presented by crop and by individual study location. This publication can be found at iGrow.

"The objective of these trials was to evaluate and demonstrate the effects of fungicide seed treatments and foliar fungicides or cultural controls to manage plant diseases in various field crops," said Kay Ruden, Research Associate for the SDSU Extension Plant Pathology Project.

The information the research report reflects variability due to site, weather and other factors and should be interpreted within the context of the particular study. Most products in these trials are currently labeled for the particular use listed. However, some experimental compounds were evaluated, as well as some applications not currently labeled on a particular crop.

Previous research data from 2007 through 2011 from the Extension Plant Pathology Project is also available on iGrow.
