AgReliant Genetics would like to announce the selection of Dr. Benzon Lorenzana as the company’s Director of Plant Breeding Technology. Lorenzana will work from the Champaign, Illinois research station where he will serve a dual-role as the Director of Plant Breeding Technology and plant breeder.

As the Director of Plant Breeding Technology, Lorenzana will be tasked with managing the discovery and development of new plant breeding technologies and techniques that will be used to further advance the AgReliant Genetics corn research effort. Lorenzana will also manage the company’s team of scientists and research associates of the molecular-breeding and biostatistics departments.

Prior to joining AgReliant Genetics in 2009, Lorenzana received a bachelor’s degree in biology from University of the Philippines - Los Baños and a master’s and doctorate in applied plant sciences, with a specialization in plant breeding and molecular genetics, from University of Minnesota.

“In the past four years with AgReliant Genetics, Benzon has displayed his expertise in plant breeding, as well as his ability to think strategically and lead his team in Champaign,” said Dr. Tom Koch, Vice President of Research for AgReliant Genetics. “I’m confident he will have the same positive impact as the director of our industry-leading breeding technology efforts.”
