The annual CSS (Corn, Sorghum, Soybean) ASTA convention in Chicago IL, USA was held the first week in December 2012.
The meeting was a good opportunity for Westrup to have fac to face discussions with existing customers as well as with new ones.
Attendance was strong with 3,000 participants and this year there were more conditioning plant personnel in addition to managers and plant breeders.
Opportunities were discussed with customers looking at new seed corn sizing equipment. Seed corn is highly valuable with costs for genetic research and production.
With this in mind, seed management is taking advantage of gentler handling with Westrup Modular Flat screen grading machines as an alternative to the cylinder type sizers.
The U.S. market remains strong with ongoing discussions for larger volume soybean seed conditioning facilities and Westrup Modular Air/Screen equipment.
In relation to this, Westrup recently had an installation for a specialty seed conditioning line in California.
Modular flat screen grader
The concept of modular flat screen graders gives the opportunity for achieving a higher capacity with less machine units, as well as dust aspiration for the individual grades/sizes. Westrup’s selection on this area ranges up to 18 t/h on 4 grades and up to 38 t/h on 2 grades.
