From seed to feed to food, agronomic innovation and technology will continue to play a strong role in addressing the challenges of food shortages, climate change and farmer competitiveness. It’s all about getting more yields from less land, and this year Alltech plans to dedicate an entire track to crop science at GLIMPSE 2020: the 29th Annual Alltech International Symposium in Lexington, Ky., USA, May 19-22.
New in 2013, Alltech International Symposium delegates will have the opportunity to select breakout session tracks. These tracks, as opposed to traditional species or subject breakouts, will offer attendees a more holistic experience in which they take part in discussions ranging from algae and agriculture’s carbon footprint to nutrition and marketing.

“Crop yields are falling and falling dramatically. How do we go beyond the classic use of potassium, phosphorus and nitrogen to improve yields?” said Geoff Frank, CEO of Alltech Crop Science. “During the Crop Science track, we will be discussing the future outlook through ‘7:7:7.’ Seven years from now we will need a seven percent increased yield with seven percent less land to feed a growing population of humans and animals. What could one ton more grain per acre mean for the world’s 3.9 billion acres of arable land?”
The Crop Science track includes:
- A U.S. Heat Wave: How Iowa survived, improving drought resistance through better root growth and improved wind resistance.
- A New Revolution: For 20 years, a quiet revolution has occurred. Learn how yields of grain have increased by one to two tons per hectare.
- Natural Success: Fresh fruits, better taste and more pest resistance achieved naturally. What is the secret?
- Seed to Feed to Food: Get more yields with higher protein and starch in cereals, leading to more weight gain in pigs and poultry and more milk in dairy cows.
Registration for Alltech’s 29th Annual International Symposium is open now and available for an early discount price of $599 until April 15 at 11:59 p.m. EST. Standard registration after April 15 will be $850. Two paid registrations from a single company or organization will receive a third registration free of charge. Delegates who are members of ARPAS and AAVSB can also earn CEUs.
Attendees are encouraged to register early as space is limited. Of the nearly 3,000 international delegates who attended the 2012 Alltech International Symposium, 97 percent indicated that they plan to attend again.
