Two new appointments at Cotton Seed Distributors

Queensland, Australia
November 26, 2012

Cotton Seed Distributors Ltd (CSD), the lead provider of cotton seed varieties has appointed a new Director and a new General Manager – Development and Communications to assist to meet the needs of the future.

Juanita Hamparsum joins the CSD Board and fills the casual vacancy created by the resignation of Harvey Gaynor, who was recently appointed CEO of Auscott Limited.

“Juanita brings a range of skills to the board and has solid experience in primary production, finance and accounting,” said James Kahl, CSD Chairman.

Her experience includes her previous roles as Senior Accountant / Auditor for Ernst & Young and Accountant for Goldman Sachs Bank, as well as natural resource management, economic analysis, strategic planning, community leadership and consultation.

Juanita is a Chartered Accountant and Director, Finance and Accounting Manager for Hamparsum Family trust and Kalori Pty Ltd – a family agribusiness that operates across a range of farming activities at Breeza in NSW.

Juanita is the current Chairperson of the Cotton Innovation Network, delegate on the Great Artesian Basin Coordinating Committee and is the Deputy Chair and Risk and Audit Chair for the Namoi Catchment Management Authority. She has also held past positions on the CRDC, Upper Namoi Water Users Association, NSW Department of Natural Resources and Upper Namoi Cotton Growers Association.

CSD has also announced the appointment of former Cotton CRC CEO, Philip Armytage to the new role of General Manager – Development and Communications.

Philip joins the management team of CSD to actively guide and assist with the implementation of CSD’s Strategic Plan. With a particular focus on business development initiatives, Philip will be contributing to the management of the CSD’s current research investments and implementing a whole of company communication strategy.

In this role Philip will also be responsible for the effective operation of CSD’s new $1 million per year commitment to the cotton industry’s regionally based Development and Delivery (D&D) team, led by Ian Taylor from CRDC. This new initiative will provide research based knowledge to growers and agribusinesses in key cotton growing regions. D&D is a three way collaboration between Cotton Australia (CA), CRDC and CSD and was announced at the 2012 Cotton Conference in August this year.

“On the back of the highly successful Cotton CRC, Philip brings significant experience, skills and strong leadership capabilities which complement our plans for the future”, said Peter Graham, Managing Director of CSD.

Previously, Philip has worked in marketing, business development and agronomy for agchem retailer Cotton Growers Services as well as product development and range enhancement for global crop protection company Syngenta.

“Through good seasons and execution of a careful strategy, CSD is in a strong position to build for the long term future of our industry. Juanita and Philip bring excellent skills which will greatly assist CSD in generating prosperity for Australian cotton growers”, concluded Peter Graham.
