The 2009 Genetically Modified Crops Coexistence Conference (GMCC’09) will address the issue of GM and non-GM coexistence across the entire agricultural supply chain. Day one of the conference will be devoted to logistical challenges of coexistence, including legal frameworks and technical challenges for GMO analysis.
HIGHLIGHTS
GMCC-09 is excited to announce the workshop on the logistical challenges related to cost effective GMO analysis relevant to market requirements along the food and feed production chains will be led by Guy Van den Eede, Institute for Health and Consumer Protection, Italy, Yves Bertheau, INRA Research Unit for Plant Pathology and GMO Detection Methods, France and Kerry Emslie, National Measurement Institute, Australia. This session will address the complex interaction technical, economic and regulatory issues in detail. Attention will be given to the issue of the current zero tolerance of low level presence of non-approved events in Europe, complexity and costs of detection of stacked genes, reference materials and standards for testing and the practicalities of uniform global standards.
