Peterson Farms Seed’s annual Groundbreaker Field Day will be held Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, from 1-6pm, with a full line-up of guest speakers; ag displays, information about Plus20 Agronomy club membership and tours of Peterson Farms Seed replicated seed plots and facilities.
Peterson Farms Seed is well-known throughout the region for hosting a Field Day that is more than a free yardstick and an advertisement. You will not find face-painting or kids’ bounce-houses here.
Corn and soybean growers will want to mark the date on their calendars and make plans to attend this event, the largest field day in the upper Midwest.
Highlights include:
- A corn management clinic focusing on how our corn has responded to this year’s drought conducted by John McGullicuddy, MC Agronomics, Iowa City, IA.
- The Ole and Sven research plots, studying agronomic questions specific to our region.
- The opportunity to meet, converse and hear from top executives from Monsanto, Dow, Bayer CropScience and Syngenta on upcoming products.
- In-field plots of Agrisure’s Artesian drought-tolerant corn – as well as HPPD herbicide tolerant soybeans.
- Updates from weed experts about the continuing weed resistance menace facing our region.
- Technology displays featuring Monsanto’s single corn chipper, mega soybean chipper, and gene gun demonstration, equipment previously only seen in Ankeny, IA and St. Louis, MO.
- The opportunity to learn about PFS No Worries Price Guarantee and place early orders to be entered in a drawing to win an iPad.
- Photo opportunity with NDSU’s Championship Trophy from 3-5pm.
The event begins at 1pm with tours throughout the plots and to the speaker tents running at 1:00, 2:00, 3:00 and 4:00. John McGillicuddy will be offering his corn clinic at 1:30, 2:30, 3:30 and 4:30.
