The American Seed Trade Association will host a U.S./China seed forum at its annual Corn, Sorghum and Soybean Seed Research Conference, to be held Dec. 4-7 in Chicago, Ill., and is expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding.
This memorandum is designed to further cooperation between the China National Seed Association and ASTA for continued innovation in the seed industry. Priority areas for the two associations include intellectual property rights, quality seed, science-based phytosanitary measures and innovation in the seed industry.
"We are very pleased with the direction of our relationship with the China National Seed Association and Chinese government officials," said Bernice Slutsky, ASTA vice president of science and international affairs. "The MoU will only spur business opportunities for our member companies, the Chinese seed industry and the customers we both serve."
China is expected to send 40-60 people for its delegation. During the conference, the group will visit the Seed Expo, attend sessions and host business meetings. The forum will begin Dec. 3 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago and wrap up Dec. 11 with individual appointments.
