AgVenture of Red River Valley brings new seed products, professional service to North Dakota and Minnesota growers

Kentland, Indiana, USA
August 15, 2012

AgVenture of Red River Valley, Hillsboro, North Dakota has joined AgVenture, Inc. (AVI) as an independently owned and operated regional seed company, and part of the nation’s largest network of independent seed companies. The move means the long-established, local seed company will now provide corn and soybean growers across North Dakota and Minnesota with cutting-edge, proven seed products along with professional seed service throughout the year.

Red River Valley Seed Company was founded in 1999 by Jay Boeddeker who currently owns his family’s 4th generation farm established in 1912. After receiving his degree in business from Northern Arizona University, Jay returned to the farm and expanded upon his commitment to agriculture. Red River Valley Seed Co. has a reputation for superior quality and excellence in their award-winning, and state-of-the-art processing facilities handling small grains and soybeans for multiple national seed companies. Identity Preserved Ingredients (IPI), a business specializing in identity preserved and organic commodities, was established in 2009 to complement their existing business.

Boeddeker said, “The addition of AgVenture to our family of companies now allows Red River Valley Seed Company to fulfill its mission, of providing a full menu of choices and opportunities for producers in North Dakota and Minnesota.” Curt Kaufman, General Manager of AgVenture of Red River Valley agreed. “Committed to growth and ready to bring more profitability to every acre, we are proud to join AgVenture’s distinguished network of independent seed companies from across the country.”

AVI was founded in 1983 and provides its Regional Seed Companies with access to corn, soybean and alfalfa seed from multiple platforms, tested and proven to perform in local soils and agronomic environments. Kaufman said, “Through our alliance with AgVenture, we have access to a deep product portfolio of the latest genetic and technology combinations available in the seed industry. In addition, through AgVenture’s alliance with PROaccessSM, growers can access both some new and some familiar product choices. We’re confident in the products, and ready to provide professional seed support throughout the year to help our customers reach new goals in yield and profitability.”

Jim Groepper, AVI Vice President of Sales and Marketing praised the company principals for their eager approach to launching the new business. “The crop-scape has changed dramatically across the Dakotas and Minnesota in the past several years with shifts from small grain production to corn and soybeans. AgVenture of Red River Valley recognizes growers’ needs and is responding by providing them with the seed products and year-round, professional seed support they need to maximize profitability on every acre.”

Kaufman stated, “In addition to this strong product lineup, we have the support and experience of AgVenture – focusing on supporting customers throughout the year. Innovative grower-focused tools and techniques help us deliver much more than the seed alone. We’ll offer the Maximum Profit System™ (MPS), an innovative approach to dramatically increasing yields, lowering cost per bushel and improving overall farm profitability.”

Groepper said, “MPS delivers farmers a unique set of tools that effectively achieve higher yields by bringing together the best and latest converging technologies including seed genetics and traits, accuracy in placement, support of professional personnel and the latest in information technologies.”

Additional programs such as AgVenture’s ProfiZone™ program will also be made available to growers. Groepper said, “ProfiZone allows us to optimize our recommendations to growers. It helps provide a specific understanding of seed, nutrient, environmental and management practices necessary to produce crops more profitably on every acre. Better input management can provide huge advantages in yield and profit.”

Leading the sales team for AgVenture of Red River Valley is Jamie Pulkrabek, originally from a family farm near Euclid, MN. Pulkrabek holds a degree from University of MN-Crookston in Plant Industries Management/Agronomy. For the past seven years, Pulkrabek has served the seed industry in sales management and agronomic support roles. “As we grow, and as our customers experience the benefits of better yield and profitability, we will continue to extend reach across the region. We are confident in our products and have the people we need to deliver professional products and services. AgVenture of Red River Valley looks forward to serving the region’s farmers who are likewise committed to growth,” said Pulkrabek.
