On Friday, 22 June 2012, Rijk Zwaan opened a new sales subsidiary in Brazil. The establishment of Rijk Zwaan Brasil marks an important step for the breeding company in further developing South America’s expanding vegetable market.
Rijk Zwaan has been active in Brazil for some 15 years and, thanks to good cooperation with several local distributors, the company has already achieved a significant market position in melon, tomato and lettuce. With its new, fully owned subsidiary, Rijk Zwaan now intends to not only build on its existing success, but also to start focusing on a number of other Rijk Zwaan crops.
The Rijk Zwaan Brazil management team comprises Joop Vegter and Lionel Bardin. In addition to its head office in Holambra (near São Paulo), the company has trial locations in Holambra and Mossoró (northeast Brazil). There are plans to organise international field days at these locations several times a year for growers and business partners from the whole of South America.

The official opening took place during the Hortitec fair in Brazil, and was attended by a large number of partners and business relations, both from Brazil and the rest of South America. Many of them also visited the demo field in Holambra on a trip which RZ Brasil had arranged to coincide with the event.

Rijk Zwaan opent nieuw dochterbedrijf in Brazilië
Op vrijdag 22 juni heeft Rijk Zwaan officieel haar nieuwe verkoopdochter in Brazilië geopend. De oprichting van Rijk Zwaan Brasil is voor het veredelingsbedrijf een belangrijke stap in de verdere ontwikkeling van de sterk groeiende Zuid-Amerikaanse groentemarkt.
Rijk Zwaan is al ongeveer 15 jaar actief op de Braziliaanse markt. Dankzij de goede samenwerking met diverse lokale distributeurs, heeft het bedrijf al een significante marktpositie bereikt in de gewassen meloen, tomaat en sla. Met een nieuw, eigen dochterbedrijf wil Rijk Zwaan niet alleen voortbouwen op de huidige successen, maar ook gaan focussen op een aantal andere gewassen van Rijk Zwaan.
Het management team van Rijk Zwaan Brasil wordt gevormd door Joop Vegter en Lionel Bardin. Naast het hoofdkantoor in Holambra (vlakbij São Paulo), beschikt het bedrijf over proefvelden in Holambra en Mossoró (Noordoost-Brazilië). Rijk Zwaan zal hier meerdere keren per jaar demodagen organiseren voor telers en business partners uit heel Zuid-Amerika.

De officiële opening vond plaats tijdens de Hortitec-beurs in Brazilië en werd bijgewoond door een groot aantal partners en relaties van Rijk Zwaan uit Brazilië en de rest van Zuid-Amerika. Velen van hen combineerden dit met een bezoek aan de demodagen in Holambra, die gelijktijdig met het evenement werden georganiseerd.
