First of all, we would like to express our utmost appreciation of the most gracious response we have received from most of you who have shared your sympathies for the people in Thailand who are currently experiencing difficulties due to the widespread flooding in the country.
Last week, we have agreed with Thailand National Organizing Committee of Asian Seed Congress to delay the holding of our biggest annual event as we placed the safety and convenience of hundreds of APSA delegates as our priority and we thank you again for your understanding of this decision.
After further discussions with the venue hotel, we would like to inform you all that Asian Seed Congress in Pattaya, Thailand will be held next year from 27 February (Pre-Congress event; start of Registration and Opening of Trading and Exhibition Area at midday) with the usual full day schedule until 1 March. The post-Congress tours will be held on 2 March. The venue remains to be in Pattaya Exhibition and Convention Center of the Royal Cliff Hotel.
All Congress fees paid to APSA will remain unchanged and a written letter of intent should be sent to APSA Secretariat in case of cancellations. All delegates should also directly get in touch with the respective hotel they have booked to formally confirm their change of schedule. In case one would not be able to attend the Congress on its new schedule, all Congress hotels shall be returning the first-night deposits made to them upon submission of a formal cancellation. Please get the official response from the hotel once you have confirmed your re-booking/cancellation with them.
Although Kasertsart University where our Secretariat holds office is now fully submerged in waist-deep floodwater, you can still send your enquiries to apsa@apsaseed.org. Because of the unpredictable situation in Bangkok as the floodwater seeps into the inner city, our Secretariat has taken temporary office in Pattaya to ensure a continuing workflow and exchanges of communication with our delegates.
We look forward to your firm commitment in supporting APSA by attending our Asian Seed Congress on its new schedule. Now, more than ever, will be a good time to rally our support to Thailand seed industry as it faces even greater challenges in the aftermath of this flooding crisis.
See you all in Pattaya, Thailand in February!
