Lantmännen SW Seed, an international plant breeding company with its head office in Svalöv, South Sweden, has recently signed a service agreement with KeyGene, a technology based company from the Netherlands, to accelerate their Oilseed rape and wheat breeding programs to meet the requirements of the future market. This will especially benefit the winter oilseed program within SW Winter Oilseed AB.
The use of KeyGene’s state of the art bioinformatics and molecular breeding tools will help Lantmännen SW Seed to bring its variety and hybrid development to the next level. Exploring and exploiting worldwide allelic variation within these two crops with biotechnology tools has an enormous potential for the generation of higher yielding crops. The extended use of molecular breeding technologies will give Lantmännen SW Seed a competitive advantage in the European seed market.

Lantmännen SW Seed et KeyGene vont collaborer en matière de sélection moléculaire sur les espèces de grandes cultures
Lantmännen SW Seed, sélectionneur de dimension internationale, dont le siège est situé à Svalöv dans le sud de la Suède, vient de signer un accord de partenariat avec la société de biotechnologie hollandaise KeyGene en vue d’accélérer la mise au point de variétés nouvelles de colza et de blé répondant aux besoins des marchés futurs. Cet accord bénéficiera en premier lieu au programme de sélection du colza d’hiver mené dans le cadre de SW Winter Oilseed AB.
L’utilisation des technologies de pointe de KeyGene en matière de bioinformatique et de sélection moléculaire va permettre aux programmes de créations variétales de Lantmännen SW Seed de progresser significativement. L’exploration et l’exploitation de la variabilité allélique disponible au niveau mondial offre un énorme potentiel de progression de la productivité des cultures concernées.
