Winfield Solutions, LLC and GEOSYS Inc. announce strategic U.S. partnership

Shoreview, Minnesota, USA
Dec. 17, 2010

Winfield Solutions, LLC, a leading provider of agricultural inputs, today announced a long-term strategic partnership with GEOSYS Inc. intended to enhance Winfield Solutions’ ability to provide its business partners an industry-leading set of tools and technologies that will help growers make data-driven agronomic decisions on a field-by-field basis.

Effective immediately, the 10-year agreement provides Winfield Solutions the preferred rights to GEOSYS Inc.’s FarmSat™ Platform for major field crops in the United States. FarmSat™ is an innovative set of web-based tools that enables local agronomists to deliver a full set of precision farming services to growers. This partnership will enable Winfield Solutions to access GEOSYS’ world-class expertise to develop game-changing agronomic decision-support tools that will strengthen its business partners nationwide.

“The Winfield Solutions value promise to its business partners and their grower-customers is ‘Winning Together in the Field.’ The crop-planning, sales and product-placement tools we are developing with GEOSYS will enable us to fully deliver on that promise,” said Michael Vande Logt, Winfield Solutions Chief Operating Officer, Seed. “Our goal is to use data from our nearly 200 Answer Plot® research and training locations, combined with an extensive archive of satellite imagery and weather data, to provide new insights on how to best manage each product in our growers’ fields. We will help growers integrate data-driven and genetic-specific insights into customized farm plans that include precision-farming prescriptions where appropriate. This innovation will change the way growers purchase seed and the way agronomic decisions are made.”

Winfield Solutions believes that properly placing products by utilizing knowledge of genetics and agronomic practices maximizes growers’ profitability. The Winfield Solutions R7® Placement Strategy precisely matches crop inputs with field conditions, and this collaboration with GEOSYS Inc. will help bring the R7® Placement Strategy to more growers served by local sales agronomists.

“GEOSYS Inc. has considered a number of distribution partners within the United States and we are confident that this new long-term partnership with Winfield Solutions is without a doubt the best match at the right time for all stakeholders. Our collective commitment to creating significant value for our customers by delivering superior agronomic decision-support tools is, we believe, unmatched within the agricultural retail market here in the United States,” said N.R. (Norm) Davy, GEOSYS Senior Vice President – Americas.
