Germinal continues to support grassland innovation and sustainability by sponsoring three major awards in 2025. These awards recognise outstanding farmers pushing the boundaries of grassland excellence, balancing productivity with environmental sustainability.

These awards do more than celebrate individual achievements – they showcase progressive techniques and encourage other farmers to adopt climate smart practices for a sustainable future.

If you’re achieving more from forage while balancing economic and environmental success, we encourage you to enter. Likewise, if you know an outstanding grassland manager with a success story worth sharing, consider nominating them for one of the awards below.

Farmers Weekly Awards: Grassland Manager of the Year

Deadline: 30th April

Awards night: Thursday 2nd October – Grosvenor House Hotel, London

We’re looking for the farmers making a real difference.

Last year’s winner, James Tweedie, transformed his farm through improved soil health, efficient grassland management, and use of clover and herbal leys to create a highly productive, sustainable dairy system.

Enter or nominate here.

Awards night: Thursday 16th October – The Vox Birmingham

Next is the British Farming Awards, where we seek forward-thinking farmers like Chris and Bella Mossman, who drove yield and quality through sustainable practices. Their expertise in soil health, reseeding and grazing shows the power of climate smart grassland management.

Enter or nominate here.

British Grassland Society’s Grassland Farmer of the Year

Deadline: 20th June

Open to British Grassland Society (BGS) members, this award recognises outstanding dairy, beef and sheep farmers excelling in grassland management while maintaining sustainable livestock production.

Entries must be submitted by a regional judge from your local society – find the five judging areas here.

By entering or nominating for these awards, you can help spotlight the best in our industry.

Good luck to all entrants!
