Relentless Ag teams up with Meristem Crop Performance

Dresden, Ohio, USA
September 10, 2024

Jared Cox and Doug Coe, owners and operators of Relentless Ag, Dresden, Ohio (www.relentlessag.com) and Mitch Eviston, founder and CEO of Meristem Crop Performance Group, LLC (www.meristemag.com), based in Columbus, Ohio, today announced a new dealership agreement to serve farmers in Ohio.

Under the new relationship, Cox, Coe, and their business, Relentless Ag, will carry the Meristem Crop Performance product line and become Meristem’s ally in helping Ohio farmers make the most of every dollar they spend on crop inputs.

“Jared Cox and Doug Coe are known in Ohio for providing a variety of services that help farmers they work with win more consistently, season after season,” said Eviston, in announcing the agreement.  “We’re excited to be able to come alongside to help these professionals serve those farmers and also gain from their field experience as we add new products that make the most of every seed they plant or sell.”

Doug Coe and Jared Cox grew up on farms and both have extensive experience in working with farmers in central and southwest Ohio. The two recently formalized their business partnership and founded Relentless Ag. “We do provide pretty much everything we can to support farmers’ success,” explains Cox. “From providing the highest quality seed and crop protection to following up with a lot of on-the-field, boots-on-the-ground service. We want our guys to have the highest return on their investment possible.”

“We’re both farmers at heart and we felt as though that might give us a better understanding of how to serve other farmers,” says Coe. “Now we provide Pioneer seed and Corteva crop protection and a range of fertility and other crop inputs to bring a forward-thinking approach to every acre. When major dollars are at stake, being invited to be a part of a farmer’s decision-making circle means everything to us and we don’t ever want to let them down.”

That sort of driven service, combined with some shared reading material, actually led to the name, Relentless Ag. “We were going through different options and most of them were the old boring ones, things like combining the initials of our names,” remembers Coe. “Then Jared sent me a link to this book called Relentless – I got the audio version and it really felt as though it matched exactly how we wanted to serve farmers: Be relentless in pursuit of quality. Never stop working to improve.”

Authored by Tim Grover, a performance coach known for his work with Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade and others, Relentless carries the subtitle: “moving from good to great to unstoppable.”

“It captures what we aspire to be for our farmer customers,” says Cox. “We want to provide the tools, technology and know-how to help them in their own pursuit of excellence. Every farmer and every acre is different and there’s no ‘one-size-fits-all." His partner Coe says that’s one reason they’ve become fans of Meristem’s product portfolio.

“I think Meristem has one of the most in-depth lineups to help farmers that’s out there,” he says. “There’s more options all season long that can help any farmer’s ROI (return on investment) with every pass.” Cox adds that the big ones for their growers have been Meristem’s Excavator and the fungicide foliar passes when they add Revline Late Season and Homestretch NKBS. “We are seeing better ear fill late season when we combine those products and apply them with the fungicide pass.”

Family is important to both men and their mates. Cox and his wife Jenny have two sons, Blaine, at Xavier University pursuing a degree in chemistry, and Trent, who attended Ohio University and works in sales. Coe and his wife, also named Jenny, have nine-year-old twins – a daughter and a son.  Cameron Edwards, Meristem’s regional director for Ohio and the Eastern U.S., says he’s been impressed with the knowledge and level of service Relentless Ag is extending to customers, as well as their love of family.

“It meshes so well with what we are working to do with Meristem in providing farm families more bushels for less,” he says. “I’m really excited to be able to work with them to bring more of our innovative products to more of the farmers they serve.” Farmers who work with Coe and Cox seem pleased with the service they are getting as well.

“Doug (Coe) has always been a dependable source of wise advice and willing to listen,” says Kevin Stuckey, Stuckey Enterprises. “He truly cares about our operation and has been vital to our success. He’s family. Not by blood, but just as important to our farm.” Matt Bell, Bell Farms, LLC, has similar feelings. “These guys are never afraid to think outside the box and try new things.” Cox feels it’s been that willingness to bring new ideas to farmers that has been a key to their success.

“We feel the most expensive saying in agriculture is ‘It’s how we’ve always done it,’” he says. “We encourage our clients to not be afraid to do things differently. The only way to find a better way is through trying new options that might bring better results.”
