USDA Under Secretary Jenny Moffitt to headline panel at 63rd Annual Vegetable & Flower Seed Conference

The American Seed Trade Association (ASTA) is pleased to announce U.S. Department of Agriculture Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs Jenny Lester Moffitt will headline a panel at the 63rd Annual Vegetable & Flower Seed Conference. The conference, set to take place January 26-30, 2024, in "America's Salad Bowl" of Monterey, California, will bring together roughly 1,000 seed professionals from more than 30 countries for an unparalleled educational and networking experience.

Under Secretary Moffitt will be featured alongside international policymakers and industry experts to discuss recent policy developments for genome editing plants in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and the European Union. Joining her on this panel are Dr. Lauren Comin, Policy Director, Seeds Canada; Dr. Petra Jorasch, Manager, Plant Breeding and Innovation Advocacy, Euroseeds; and Dr. Janet Talling, Head of Genetic Technologies and Farm Tenancy, Innovation, Productivity and Science Division, Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs, United Kingdom. 

The four-day event will also have a number of relevant sessions on industry hot topics, including an update on state and federal policy from ASTA’s advocacy team, the role of sustainability and regenerative agriculture in the seed industry, and emerging seed regulatory policy in the EU and Canada.

The highly sought after Trading Room returns as the networking hub for international business-to-business meetings, including representatives from over 115 companies from around the globe.
