Eric Hinds joins Meristem team

Oxford, Indiana and Columbus, Ohio, USA
October 5, 2023

Experienced ag account professional and seed rep Eric Hinds has joined Meristem Crop Performance Group, LLC (www.MeristemAg.com), one of the fastest-growing crop input suppliers in America. Hinds becomes Meristem’s sales and dealer coach in west-central Indiana and eastern Illinois, operating out of Oxford, Indiana.

“Eric Hinds is a service-oriented expert at helping farmers get solid crop production results,” says Mitch Eviston, Meristem Founder and CEO in announcing the hire. “Eric is an experienced crop advisor who knows his stuff and we are excited to have him on our growing all-star team.”

Hinds is a Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) who earned his bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness from Purdue University. An experienced seedsman, he comes to Meristem after 13 crop seasons as a territory manager for Corteva Agriscience and the legacy brand Pioneer Hi-Bred International. Before that, he represented Syngenta and LG Seeds.

“Innovation is long overdue in the business of making the most of every seed placed in the furrow,” said Hinds of his new opportunity. “Meristem is bringing a lot of opportunity to farmers with their new “Biology Is Fertility” approach and I’m really charged up about bringing those benefits to farmers.”

Meristem has made news over the past several years by accelerating access to farm-ready innovations and reducing waste in the distribution channel, releasing two patented systems for delivering beneficial biologicals to farmers’ fields in ways that assures their vigor and vitality. BioCapsule Technology™ is a key part of delivering microbes and micronutrients through the planter box (REVLINE HOPPER THROTTLE™), and Microbilize Technology™ powers a residue breakdown consortium (EXCAVATOR™) that makes more nutrients available to plants faster.

Hinds says Meristem’s people and products are oriented toward boosting ROI for farmers and decreasing waste and that fits perfectly with his personal mission. “Boiler up!” Hinds smiles, using Purdue’s war cry often heard at their university sport contests.

“Every day, I’m walking fields with growers and figuring out how to help them produce more as efficiently as possible. Serving farmers and seeing them succeed is a key part of my life.” Hinds grew up near Otterbein, Ind., where he still resides. He has been married to his wife Amy for 22 years and they proudly have two children, Hayden and Emma, who attend Benton Central High School, where their parents first met.

“I look at what Meristem has been able to accomplish in just a few years, and I’m really impressed with how they are bringing a way of maximizing fertility in new ways while reducing our dependence on rock fertilizer,” says Hinds. “At the end of the day, innovation like this is going to help our farmers better optimize every dollar they spend on traditional fertilizer while at the same time being even better stewards of the environment.” Hinds says family, crops and land are key elements in the success of American agriculture and views his new role with Meristem as a part of continuing that progress.

“Now I have the chance with Meristem to help lots of farm families put those first things first and be successful,” he says. “I am truly excited about this opportunity.”
