New DLF varieties provide better earnings in the Australian agricultural sector

Unlocking higher pasture production and increased profits, our collaboration with the University of New England, Australia reveals how our forage grass outperformed traditional fields

Since 2020, our Australian team has cooperated with the University of New England (UNE) in Armidale, New South Wales. UNE runs 2900 hectares of SMART Farms, which are commercial scale grazing enterprises, used to support research and education.

Here, recently planted grazing paddocks with forage grass from DLF are being assessed on a range of characteristics and compared with adjacent permanent grazing paddocks. The pastures are rotational grazed with cattle and sheep. In the spring of 2021, the new pastures successfully delivered forage for 33 animal units per hectare.

This was a convincing difference compared with the permanent grass fields, which managed to produce feed for an average of six animal units per hectare.

Results like these demonstrate to our customers, the ability of our products to improve farmers pasture production and their profits.
