It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Nathan Holaday, Holaday Seed Co., on February 19, 2023. Nathan and the Holaday Seed Co. had been active within ASTA and the seed industry for a number of years.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made in honor of Nate to any of the following organizations that he loved and supported: The Salinas Valley Fair Heritage Foundation, Hartnell College Foundation, Mission San Antonio, Palma Athletics, King City Young Farmers or the Knights of Columbus.
The Hartnell College Foundation mourns the passing of Nate Holaday. Nate was a giant of a man, in physical stature, generosity of spirit, and commitment to community.
Nate was deeply involved in agriculture and a committed supporter of Hartnell College. Beyond being a descendent of the College's namesake, Nate was a long-time champion for Hartnell.
He was an instrumental supporter of the campaign to establish the Agricultural Business and Technology Institute at the College. He also served on the Hartnell College Foundation Board of Directors and on the Foundation's Ag Steering Committee. He was active in the campaigns for the King City Campus and the Center for Advanced Technology at the Alisal Campus.
Nate was honored in 2019 with the Foundation's Leadership Award for his outstanding support of the College and the Foundation. He changed the lives of many in our community, provided countless opportunities for students to improve their lives and the lives of their families, and strengthened workforce development for the agriculture industry. He inspired us all and we will miss him.
"Nate's legacy of giving to great causes in our Salinas Valley will never be forgotten," said Foundation Executive Director, Jackie Cruz, adding, "The lives he touched, the families he helped, and the organizations he supported will forever carry his lasting philanthropy in their hearts. Thank you Nate. See you in the next phase, my friend."
